Here's what we know about IKIZULIVE! LOVELIVE! BLUEBIRD so far

We finally have some character and story details about the new Love Live! project.

Here's what we know about IKIZULIVE! LOVELIVE! BLUEBIRD so far

IKIZULIVE! LOVELIVE! BLUEBIRD was first teased on February 2, 2025 at the end of Love Live! Series Asia Tour 2024 ~Minna de Kanaeru Monogatari~. At that time, all they showed was art of the staple orange-haired main character looking very depressed, followed by the title reveal.

Then on April 28, 2025, the X accounts started to appear, along with silhouettes of the 10 main characters, and an announcement that the project would start on May 12, 2025. Fans did their best to speculate on and translate what was going on, and they are still hard at work contributing to the fanbase.

May 12 has arrived, and we finally have some more details about Bluebird. While it's still unclear what kind of media project it will be (Will there be a game? An anime?), we at least have character and seiyuu details.

In this blog post, I will summarize already available information, mostly from X accounts that have been posting about the series.

The Setting

Bluebird's setting is an online high school named Love High School, or L High for short. Although classes are online, there are physical spaces across Japan for students to meet in person. The school is rumored to be struggling financially, which means we might have another case of a Love Live! series where the school idols try to save their school from closing.

The series likely takes place in the distant future, long after the existing Love Live! series. The official website mentions that school idols "used to exist nationwide" which sounds like the concept eventually died off and the girls of Bluebird are going to try to revive it.

The story of Bluebird will primarily take place on X and YouTube. As is standard for Love Live!, there will be live performances and events featuring the seiyuu.

The Music

It wouldn't be Love Live! without music. As of now, only one song has been posted to the project's official YouTube channel, titled "What is my LIFE?". Love Live! staff have translated and subbed the song in English, so turn the subs on!

The song releases to music streaming services on May 19. You can pre-save it here. The single CD releases on July 30, 2025, and will likely contain more tracks.

Additionally, solo CDs have been announced and will be released throughout 2025:

  • August 27: Polka, Mai
  • September 10: Akira, Hanabi
  • September 24: Miracle, Noriko
  • October 8: Yukuri, Aurora
  • October 29: Midori, Shion

Here's a teaser for Polka's solo song, which will have a lyric video up on June 17:

How to enjoy IKIZULIVE! LOVELIVE! BLUEBIRD

For now, follow the characters' accounts listed above, and use X's built-in translate feature, which is usually pretty accurate. There's also a list you can follow. There's also this YouTube channel doing fan translations that's worth checking out.

Also, follow the main project account on X (@ikizulive_staff) and subscribe to the official YouTube channel.

IKIZULIVE! LOVELIVE! BLUEBIRD is looking to be a promising addition to the Love Live! lineup. I love all of the characters, and I think Miracle's my favorite, though it's still early so that's subject to change. I can't wait to learn more about the characters, the story, hear more of the music, and watch the live concerts. Let's hope Bluebird is another great success for the franchise!
